How we handle your information

Dream Think Tank is a community-engaged research project that invites you to share your dreams and goals for the future. Participation is voluntary and you can stop at any time.

What we collect

Your username and email address
A hashed version of your password (never the password itself)
Whether your email is verified
The dream you share, including a copy of the original you submitted
Your goals and any tasks you add to them*
Votes you cast on shared goals
Optional location (city, state, country) — provided only if you choose to enter it
Feedback you submit through the in-app form
Anonymous usage events (e.g. "landing page viewed", "signup completed") — counts only, never tied to your account

*Shared goals appear in the community feed and may inform research. Private goals are stored so you can access them across devices, but they aren't shown to other users and aren't used in research or grant reporting.

What we don't collect

Your IP address
Tracking cookies or cross-site identifiers
GPS or precise device location
Information shared with third parties for advertising
Browsing history outside of Dream Think Tank

How we use it

To run the platform — sign you in, show your dream in the galaxy, save your goals
For community-engaged research on future-oriented cognition. Dream and goal content may be analyzed in aggregated or de-identified form.
For grant reporting — aggregate, non-identifying counts (e.g. number of participants, dreams shared).
To send transactional emails (verify your email, reset your password)

Who we share with

We use a small number of trusted services to run the project:

MongoDB Atlas — stores your data securely
Vercel — hosts the site and provides anonymous page-view analytics
Resend — sends transactional emails (verification, password reset)

Research collaborators may receive de-identified or aggregated data, never raw account information. We don't sell or rent your data.

Your rights

View, edit, or delete your dream any time from your Profile
Edit or remove your location any time from Settings
Change your password any time from Settings
Request full account deletion by emailing us — see contact below
Withdraw from the project any time

Data retention

Account, dream, and goal data — until you delete them or your account
Email verification tokens — 24 hours, then auto-deleted
Password reset tokens — 1 hour, then auto-deleted
Anonymous usage events — 1 year, then auto-deleted

Children

Dream Think Tank is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.

Updates to this policy

If we make meaningful changes, we'll update this page. The date at the bottom reflects the latest revision.
